Exchanging a foreign driving license

Do you have a foreign driving license and do you live in the Netherlands? In the Netherlands you will be allowed a limited period for driving with a foreign driving license . After that, you must exchange the driving license through your municipality. If it's possible will depend on the country that issued the driving license.

Conditions for exchange

Please note! You must meet all the conditions.

  • You have a valid driving license from the EU / EFTA or from a country with which we have an agreement . An EU/EFTA driving license is allowed to be expired.
  • You are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP).
  • You have a valid identity or residence document.
  • You have an EU/EFTA nationality. Not? In that case: you have a temporary or permanent residence permit (exchanging is not possible if you are waiting for a (new) residence permit), or you are in the Netherlands under Association Decision 1/80 of the EEC/Turkey Association Council , or you fall under the Temporary Protection Directive (residence permit 46).

Driving Lessons with a Foreign Driving License

If you already hold a foreign driving license and would like to take driving lessons with us, we are happy to assist you.

We always start with our 1.5 hour intake lesson . During the intake, we assess your current driving skills, give you practical tips in advance, and provide personalized advice on what to expect during your driving training. We will also review and sign the lesson agreement together. After the intake interview, your driving lessons will be scheduled.

Driving lessons in your language

Driving lessons are available in Dutch and English , and these lessons are given without a translator . We also offer driving lessons in Ukrainian, Spanish, and Arabic with our own in real-live translator .

For the theory exam , languages ​​other than Dutch or English require an official interpreter . In this case, an interpreter must be arranged, and the costs for the interpreter are the responsibility of the student . The same applies to the practical driving exam. payment & applying

All lessons are paid in advance . For the driving lessons, you can choose between an "All-In Package" , payable in one or two installations and including 30 hours of driving, theory materials and the practical exam, or Single driving lessons . If you choose Single Lessons, payment can be made per lesson or monthly, based on the lessons scheduled for that month.
