What is looked at during the driving test?
- To observe
Good observation is essential; you must have good vision and be able to react to other road users in time. Your position on the road is examined and whether you keep sufficient distance from obstacles. For example, if you see less sharply with one eye, it is examined whether you can compensate the field of vision with the other eye.
- Thought process
Do you make the right decisions in time? For example, if you have ADD, ADHD, brain damage or a reduced memory, you may process information more slowly. It is tested whether you can maintain your attention , divide it and stay focused during the ride. It is also examined whether you can correctly assess the behavior of other road users, recognize dangerous situations and operate the car correctly.
- Motor skills
Before the ride, a strength test is performed. During the driving test, it is assessed whether you can operate the car properly mechanically. Attention is paid to a correct sitting position, the correct use of the seat belt, smooth steering movements and whether you can easily reach the switches. It is also assessed whether you shift responsibly in combination with steering, brake powerfully and switch smoothly between the accelerator and brake pedal without looking down. Finally, it is assessed whether you can look around you sufficiently while driving without this being at the expense of steering.
